As an Oklahoma brand photographer, I’m lucky to meet and work with some incredible business owners who are making a difference in their communities. One of my recent sessions was with Ebb & Flow Pilates and Movement, a Pilates and yoga studio in Edmond, Oklahoma, owned by the inspiring and passionate former ballet dancer turned entrepreneur.

Meet the Woman Behind Ebb & Flow Pilates and Movement

Leila is the owner and heart behind Ebb & Flow Pilates and Movement, a studio where strength meets intention, and movement feels like home.

Leila’s story is one of dedication, passion, and, quite honestly, a little bit of magic. A former ballet dancer turned Pilates expert (and boy mom of three!), movement has been the center of her life for as long as she can remember. From earning a college dance degree to teaching ballet, then falling in love with Pilates and eventually opening her own studio in April 2023, Leila has built something truly special—a space where people of all ages and abilities can come to feel strong, empowered, and connected to their bodies.

Walking into Ebb & Flow, you instantly feel the warmth of the community Leila has cultivated. Up until now, her website and social media have showcased the beautiful space, but now it’s time to bring it to life—because this studio isn’t just about the equipment. It’s about the people who fill it with energy, laughter, and growth. That’s why we set out to capture the essence of what makes Ebb & Flow so unique: the connection, the challenge, and the pure joy of movement.

Leila’s approach to Pilates is as dynamic as her background. She works with clients ranging from pre-teens to individuals in their 80s, with her most common demographic being women between 40-60 years old. But she has a vision of welcoming even more women in their 20s and 30s into the Ebb & Flow family. And here’s the thing—Pilates at Ebb & Flow isn’t just about stretching or injury recovery (though those are certainly benefits!). It’s about real strength, muscle mass, flexibility, and range of motion. It’s about feeling good in your body while keeping your mind engaged.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Pilates, especially in Oklahoma, is that it’s only for older people, or that it’s the same as yoga. But as Leila will tell you, Pilates is uniquely powerful because of its use of springs and resistance training—offering a challenge that builds strength in a way that’s both effective and sustainable. And let’s not forget—the instructors at Ebb & Flow go through extensive training, often taking a year or more to get certified. That level of expertise means every class is intentionally designed to help you move forward, no matter where you are in your fitness journey.

Beyond the classes, Leila has big plans for the future of Ebb & Flow. She’s gearing up to launch Pilates teacher education, guiding new instructors through the rigorous certification process. She’s also thinking ahead to expanding her studio, adding more instructors, and eventually welcoming even more clients into the Ebb & Flow community.
